Last week, a young Austin band died, then like Saint Lazarus, rose from the dead.  And though we wish the band had selected guitarist Charlie Magnone’s submission–The Vintage Years–as their new moniker, we genuinely enjoyed their set and wish the former Magnificent Snails, now The Gorgeous Hands, the very best.  We especially liked their wide sense of pop, which included the featherlight turns of a Vampire Weekend alongside serious efforts at garage and blues.

Check out the last song the Snails ever performed, above, along with Mr. Magnone’s account of his naming suggestion.
