POP Montreal French Off (Preview!)

Musiciens Je Veux Frencher Upcoming Series:
POP Montreal French Off

POP Montréal is a five day music and art free-for-all covering everything from pop (duh), electro, punk, and opera, to vintage fashion, handmade art, and all-star panels and lectures.

In many ways POP is Montréal’s answer to SXSW. With Boulevard Saint Laurent as Sixth Street, Belle Gueule as Lonestar, and hordes of Brooklyn hipsters as…themselves. The POP Montréal gods granted Vesper Magazine’s rogue editor, Emily Hill, a media pass. Along with discovering countless new bands bred from hardy Canadian soil, she also rubbed elbows with Arcade Fire (Win Butler walked by on the sidewalk one night—someone had to point him out to her) ate her first smoked meat sandwich (Franklin, you’ve got competition, son) and after partied each night in a church basement (église POP, bless you).

Although she (sadly) didn’t get to french Peaches… Emily chose four incredibly talented, surprising, crazysexy bands to sexually assault. Which bands gave her a real lip lock? Which bands gave her the brush off? Find out in the following weeks during Vesper Mag’s MJVF POP Montréal four-part series.

In the meantime, Emily is sending you all thoughts of a joyous Canadian Thanksgiving (whatever that is).
